OUR HISTORY
Jim and Tina Jack brought the Gliding Stars of Central Florida Chapter to life in 2001. Tina was legally blind, yet was a guiding and driving force for the adaptive skating program we share today to engage persons with disabilities. Together, Jim and Tina worked tirelessly to make the program come alive and were volunteer leaders, on and off the ice for 15 years.
Although Jim passed away in 2014 followed by Tina in 2017, we imagine the two of them skating on smooth ice to the most incredible music, together, as we continue to share their passion for making ice skating accessible for individuals with physical and emotional challenges. We invite you to join us in sharing their joy for this sport with so many more individuals looking to find an inclusive space on the ice.
For over 20 years, our program was part of the family of Gliding Stars, Inc., a multi-state adaptive ice skating program based in Buffalo, New York. In 2022, the Central Florida Chapter became an independent not-for-profit Florida corporation to further develop the adaptive ice skating program in the State of Florida. Gliding Stars of Central Florida, Inc. continues its charitable purposes as a 501(c)(3) organization.
