Week 1 of Shooting Stars Skills Camp is officially in the books—and what an incredible start it was!
We kicked things off with Skating Skills & Stick Control, where athletes focused on controlled movement both forward and backward. Using tennis balls added a unique challenge, helping participants develop coordination and confidence while pushing and pulling the ball down the alleys. The long weave drill brought it all together, encouraging focus, control, and a sense of accomplishment as athletes navigated their way through.
At the next station, Ice Obstacles & Stickhandling, the excitement ramped up. Athletes tackled a variety of obstacles—jumping sticks, stepping over pads, and even sliding under the “bridge.” These activities promoted agility, creativity, and bravery on the ice. The puck weave and shoot-on-goal drills gave everyone a chance to practice real game skills, with lots of smiles (and goals!) along the way.
We wrapped up with Wide Skating & Shooting, where athletes worked on skating strength and puck control. Moving wide over zig-zag pads and learning to carry the puck on one side while skating on the other challenged balance and coordination in a fun and engaging way.
Week 1 wasn’t just about skills—it was about building confidence, creating connections, and setting the tone for an amazing season ahead. With every stride, pass, and shot, our athletes are already showing growth and determination.
We can’t wait to see what Week 2 brings! ⭐🏒
