Week 3 of Shooting Stars continued to build strong momentum as athletes focused on combining skills—linking skating, passing, and shooting into fluid, game-like movement. The growth in confidence and teamwork was clear across every station.
Station 1 introduced progressive passing drills using black pucks and tires. Athletes worked on 1:1 passing as well as small group passing around obstacles, emphasizing communication and timing. They then advanced to weaving through tires, receiving a pass, and taking a shot—first with help from volunteers, then from teammates. The challenge increased as they circled two tires, received a pass, shot on goal, and sprinted out, reinforcing quick transitions and awareness.
At Station 2, athletes focused on power skating while integrating passing and shooting with blue pucks. They weaved through tires, received passes, and took shots in stride before sprinting out. Circling the tires added another layer of edge control and balance. The station wrapped with start-and-stop drills at cones, helping athletes react quickly and build explosive movement—key skills that are already translating into stronger on-ice performance.
Station 3 emphasized puck handling using rings, creating a fun but challenging way to develop control. Athletes kept their sticks on the ice while guiding the ring, skated with speed around pads, and finished with competitive sprint races up and down the lanes. This station brought energy and excitement while reinforcing control, coordination, and speed.
Week 3 highlighted real progress in connecting skills together. Athletes are not only improving individually, but also learning to trust their teammates, communicate, and play with purpose. The pace is picking up, and so is the excitement as we continue building toward the heart of the season.
